DIY Natural Makeup Primer

If you’re looking for an effective and low-cost skin primer, then we have a bomb recipe for a DIY natural makeup primer that is also healthy for your skin.

Trust me, I know the struggle of finding the right primer all too well. I actually gave up on using any kind of primer for about six months, and only sprayed a mixture of pure witch hazel and distilled water on my face before applying makeup.

If you are a product junkie like me than I know that you have purchased your fair share of primers. Personally, over the last 8 years I have purchased and tried so many primers both high and low end. Who else has tried Milk of Magnesia as a primer and Nivea's Men Shaving Balm? Yeah, me too.

Now that it has been either raining or sweltering hot, I’m not sure how my witch hazel spray and my makeup are going to hold up so I needed another solution.

On my journey to better self care and being more eco-friendly I have been really into DIY beauty and skincare products, while also saving money in the process. This natural DIY facial primer is healthier for your skin, cost effective and great for oily skin.

Clay is used in this recipe for it’s oil absorbing, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. Aloe Vera is a natural moisturizer and protectant creating a smooth canvas for your makeup application. Witch Hazel is optional in case the consistency is too thick add drops of Witch Hazel and blend well.

  2. Add Kaolin Powder and blend until completely smooth.
  3. Apply after moisturizer and let it rest on your skin.
  4. Add mineral powder or foundation for a tinted primer.

Application: Use a foundation brush and apply a thin layer for an even application.
